The lava lamp fad is making a major comeback this year — but this time, it’s not on nightstands. It’s on nails.
Nail artist Liam Peter’s Instagram feed has recently featured the lava lamp nail design, which he recreated on stiletto-shaped nails — and we’re absolutely blown away by how similar they are to the real thing.
“Lava lamp nails! Let’s start a trend! #lavalampnails,” he captioned the photo. “Have wanted to do something like this for a year and finally did it.”
The caption also included the products Peter used to create the look, namely The GelBottle Inc. gel nail polish in the shades ‘Cosmopolitan’ and ‘Bellini’.
Peter’s fans were quick to comment on his lava lamp nail design, with one follower writing: “Love it!! Really good idea and it’s very well done.”
Of course, it didn’t take long for other nail artists to seize upon the trend and create their own versions of Peter’s look. One artist took it to a whole new level by imitating the lava lamp effect as part of his designs. Yes, it’s actually moving — and we can’t stop watching.
Next on the list is this neon lava lamp design, which — while decidedly not as realistic as the previous — offers a colorful and slightly more wearable take on the trend. And it’s still equally mind-blowing.
A Connecticut YouTuber, who goes by the name of BRC Nails, has even prepared a tutorial on how to recreate the must-have lava lamp look at home. Here you go (no need to thank us, mind):
“Cool Lava Lamp Nails! Let’s start a trend! Original idea by @liampeternails @yaaas_get_nailed. Tutorial suggested by @nailsbymeech out tomorrow YouTube,” the artist posted on Instagram.
The last on the list are these lava lamp nails that glow in the dark. How freakin’ aweeesome is that?
